Chile rejects the possibility of withdrawing its troops from Haiti

"The engagement in Haiti is a long term investment. Chile is a country seriously and it will meet its (...) We will continue to try to identify how best to collaborate, and a possible change of personnel can not be ruled , "said Mr. Moreno to the press.
Moreno made the remarks after the Chilean party Independent Democratic Union (IDUs) had asked the Government to discuss the presence of Chilean troops in Haiti because critics increasingly virulent being heard in the Caribbean country.
UDI has also indicated that Chilean troops could be seen by people as forces of occupation of the country.
Since May 2010, the government of President Rene Preval and the presence of MINUSTAH are severly challenged.
On September 28, 2010, silver, Brazil and Chile have required the continued presence of their troops in Haiti, so they can participate, including the work of reconstruction conducted since January 2010 in the country.
Haiti was severely devastated in 2010 by a powerful earthquake that killed more than 250,000 dead and left 1.5 million homeless.
